ABOUT ME

Paul Johnson Carrying Camera

I am just an ordinary guy with an extraordinary talent. Unfortunately to date I have not discovered what this talent might be so I stick to riding bikes and taking photos. I have a full time job and I am incredibly fortunate to have found a charming and lovely partner who tolerates my endless prattle about cycling and the wearing of lycra around the house (this is done under heavy protest).

I am not a spectacular athlete and I cannot ride especially far or fast. But I do dream big. I have never had any sporting prowess to speak of and until I found cycling I had no desire to be fit or healthy. Once upon a time I weighed 20 stone and I have struggled with my mental health over the years. Cycling quite literally transformed my life. It enabled me to get a grip on feelings of depression and to shed weight and feel confident and motivated.

This blog is about challenging myself to be the best that I can be. I hope to entertain and inspire along the way. I hope that you will find information here to help guide you through the mountain of training advice and gadgets that we are bombarded with in the world of cycling. I want to cut through the fads, the unrealistic and the downright silly. Instead we will focus on what works, for real people, in real situations. This can only become what you make it so get involved and let me have your feedback.

Safe riding and stay awesome!
